New paperbacks!

There are plenty of newly published paperbacks hot off the press and on the horizon. Here's a selection of some of our favourite titles (and ones we're looking forward to reading too!)

We've also decided to keep our sale table going for one more weekend, and we've been topping it up all week with up to 50% off selected hardbacks.

🎉🎊 January Sale 🎊🎉

Back to business for us! We've got a huge sale on all weekend, with up to 50% off on selected hardbacks, and these are just a few of our favourites! Perfect for those looking to spend their Christmas vouchers and book tokens.

And if you've only just stumbled across our bookshop - hello! We're an independent bookshop in Maldon, open for browsing seven days a week. If you can't see the book you're looking for on the shelves, just ask! We're able to order in most books in print for next day collection. We also sell cards and gift wrap, and you can find a large tiger and giraffe in the children's section 🐅🦒

A truly amazing (and very unexpected!) week for us

A truly amazing (and very unexpected!) week for us at Maldon Books, as we were incredibly lucky to be featured on yesterday's BBC Look East!

A nerve-racking experience, but we can't quite believe our bookshop was on the telly! Huge thank you to Gareth at the BBC, and to our truly fabulous customers who ended up having a cameo too!

We're absolutely thrilled to see our little bookshop in the @sundaytimes, in the company of such brilliant bookshops owned by exceptional women 💫

Thank you to our lovely team and customers, who put so much love and care into supporting our shop, we truly cannot thank you enough.

We've got big plans for 2022 that we cannot wait to share with you, but for now you can visit our shop 7 days a week, browse our shelves or have a natter at the till, and as always, we'll do our very best to get you the books you're looking for.

We can't quite believe 2021 is coming to an end. W

We can't quite believe 2021 is coming to an end. We wanted to share some of our favourite memories from this year, as although 2021 has been incredibly difficult at times, it has still had its beautiful moments.

1 - Our little bookshop in the snow early on in 2021, taken by lovely local author @ryanmizzen

2 - A surprising contrast, the blossom outside the church that blooms every year in springtime and sits directly opposite the shop (this was the first year we got to see it every single day as we were out of lockdown!)

3 - The most beautiful embroidery of our shop front by @nutmeg_embroidery - still one of our favourite moments of 2021 (it's hanging up in the shop if you would ever like to see it!)

4 - Our Book Hut's opening day with @jaketyler_bdw - one of our favourite events, and the start of a wonderful (and very rainy!) summer. Jake's book, A Walk From the Wild Edge has been one of our bestsellers this year, and a book we'll always treasure too.

5 - Our October window, a copy of @angelaharding11 illustrated cover of October, October by Katya Balen. One of our favourite window displays of 2021 - and an exceptional book too!

6 - When the booksellers came to work in matching clothes! Our lovely booksellers Izzy and Billie, perfectly coordinated for Autumn.

7 - A visit from @themaldongrinch this Christmas, who managed to find just the right gift...

8 - A Polaroid from lockdown, when we were going in once a week to sort orders and unpack boxes. The weather had just started to improve, and reopening was on the horizon!

9 - And finally, a picture of one of our favourite sections of our shop. The cheese plant has since been relocated to a new home as it has gotten far too big (it was an opening day gift!) This part of the shop gets the best light, and we love choosing the books for this table. It's an everyday photo, but it's nice to be reminded of one of your favourite spots!

We hope you enjoy yourselves today and this evening, we're open today until 3pm and back open again on Monday 3rd January.
